Lorne -Devlog 03


I started working on the main puzzle that the player needs to complete to progress to the next level.  It's set up on a basic grid and can connect to all levels but will be changed for the final game, it's convenient for testing to have it this way. The problem with it at the moment is that it's too easy to complete. Because the tiles can be picked up and rotated any way the player wants it doesn't provide any challenge. The puzzle system is inspired by the puzzles in Bioshock, I've gone back and looked at the puzzles in that game and noticed that the pipe pieces in Bioshock can't be rotated. This is the main thing that makes those puzzle difficult. Our game needs to have puzzle pieces that can be moved but not rotated, this will look weird in our game and we need to come up with some sort of justification for it but the puzzle won't be puzzling enough without it.
